Six arrested in PROCOR’s Anti-illegal logging operations

Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La  Trinindad, Benguet – (March 23, 2021) –  Six individuals were arrested in separate checkpoint operations as part of Police Regional Office Cordillera’s enforcement of the Presidential Decree No. 705 (Anti-Illegal Logging Law)

In Ifugao, four suspects were intercepted in a Quarantine Control Point (QCP) at Poblacion East, Lamut, Ifugao on March 18, 2021 while transporting several illegally-cut logs. They were identified as William Mo-og Dag-o, Curt Jaze Addao Dag-o, Hazen Liguyon Pinkihan, and Roldan Dag-o Liangna, as revealed in a report from the Provincial Director PCOL DAVID D MARIANO, Ifugao PPO.

Suspects are on board white Isuzu Elf Truck containing sawn lumbers of gmelina and mahogany bound to Nueva Vizcaya. They were arrested after enforcers noticed that their permit was only specified for the gmelina lumbers and no documents were presented for the mahogany lumbers.

 A total of 632.26 board feet with estimated value of Php 22,129.00 of mahogany lumbers were seized from the suspects. These were brought to Lamut MPS along with the suspects and vehicle for proper disposition.

Likewise, in Kalinga, two suspects were arrested in Brgy. Gobgob, Tabuk City, after law enforcers confiscated 12 pieces of illegally sawn Narra flitches with a total volume of 343.61 board feet and an estimated market value of Php 27,488.08 on March 21, 2021. 

Reports from Kalinga PPO, disclosed that they received a call from the personnel of DENR manning the Cawagayan Pinukpuk, Kalinga checkpoint asking for their assistance. They were informed that the said personnel tried to flag down a Utility Van believed to be carrying illegally sawn narra flitches, however, the driver sped the vehicle and evaded the checkpoint.

 Police officers chased the suspects identified as Jorge Tomaldong Eyawon and Roger Damolkins Salipen, both residents of Cudal, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The confiscated pieces of evidence including the said van were turned-over to CENRO-Tabuk while the arrested suspects were brought to Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition. (PROCOR RPIO)
