FILMMAKERS AND MEDIA FORUM.

BAGUIO CITY – (March 23, 2021) – The organizer of the first Montañosa Film Festival, independent filmmaker led by Festival Director Ferdie Balanag was presented to the media the ten finalists Filmmaker of the Montañosa Film Festival to be interviewed and find out a synopsis of their short film creations in relation to the past pandemic period and to this day that we continue to experience. Each title of their film connects their visions and experiences that want to be addressed by being felt by each other, by the Indigenous people, and almost the entire country that is now suffering from adversity.

It is only once in our lives that we can watch a short film that gathers good lessons and touch your heart in the midst of a pandemic. Let’s enjoy the creations of our heroic artists.

Major venue partner for the MFF is Loakan Airport, where from March 25 to 28, a drive-in theater concept will be simulated with only 50 cars (maximum four people per car) to be allowed within the audience at any given time.

The MFF is an official City event supported by Executive Order No. 6, Series of 2021, which designates March 20 -28 as MFF Week, spearheaded by the council for Baguio Creative City, through TWIMEDIA and under the helm of Festival Director Ferdinand John Balanag

Films-in-competition they are 1) 10,000 Errors by: Guilliene Sanchez, 2) 14 Days by: Nars Santos, 3) Duron by: Hendrix Sanchez, 4) The Highest Point by: Karl Patacsil, 5) Igem ni Nanang by: Moises Francisco Soriano, 6) Operation Pukis by: Angelo Aurelio, 7) Panaginip by: Enrico Rafael, 8) Pengsasan by: Lynette Grace Carantes-Bibal, 9) The Scafold Farmer by:Clint Taynan and 10) This Day by: Red Aquino.

This ten films which were selected out of a total of 46 entries that were submitted to the MFF late last year, were written and directed by ten up-and coming independent filmmakers from the Cordilleras.

With the guest speaker are DOT-CAR Director Jovy Ganongan, National Artist Kidlat Tahimik, Baguio Tourism Council Chairperson  Gladys Vergara and City Tourism Officer Engr. Alec Mapalo. Also with the presence of Filmmakers in the audience are Jocelyn Kapuno Baguio, Dexter Macaraeg, Gine Abreño, Paul Brian Baldoza with Award Winning Young Baguio Filmmaker Art Tibaldo and Rafael Handiong Kapuno during the Kapihan at Grand Sierra Pines Hotel  FNS/ Mario Oclaman
