Abra COPS thwart suspect from committing crime in Bangued

Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet- With the swift action of the three (3) highland cops in Abra, a suspect was neutralized after exchanging gunfire with the cops at Zone 7, Bangued, Abra on February 6, 2022.

Citing the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the suspect was identified as Mark Apura De Guzman a.k.a “Macmac”, of legal age and a resident of  La Paz, Abra.

Prior to the incident, Bangued MPS received information from a concerned citizen that an identified armed man was roaming around the area, immediately intel operatives conducted intelligence monitoring where they spotted the suspect aboard on his white honda beat motorcycle with a missing plate number coming from Capitulation Street, Bangued, Abra.

In response, operatives signal him to stop for violating curfew hours.  However, the suspect alighted from his motorcycle and pulled his gun from his waist, and shoot the operatives provoking them to fight back. The suspect manage to escape towards Astudillo Compound, Santiago Street, Zone 7, Bangued, however, cops were able to track him that led to another shootout resulting in the wounding of the suspect. Cops immediately brought the suspect to Abra Provincial Hospital for medication but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician Dr. Felino Burgos.

The speedy capture of the suspect is a result of the brave and quick reaction of the operatives who acted in the reported information. During the encounter, no casualty on the side of the police.

PBGEN LEE commended the three police officers for the successful operation to protect the people from the threats of various criminals.

Meanwhile, PBGEN LEE instructed the newly installed Provincial Director of Abra PPO, PCOL MALY C CULA to ensure that all police stations in Abra are alert and to continue the intensified checkpoint operation & conduct patrolling to make Abra a safer place.

In response, PCOL CULA assures the people of Abra that the successful police response is part of the strengthened security measures of Abra PPO to make Abra safer. (PROCOR-PIO)
