Over 20.1 M worth of marijuana plants burned in Benguet, two drug personalities nabbed

Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad Benguet – Over 20.1 M worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in eight marijuana plantation sites and two drug personalities were arrested in Benguet as part of the Benguet PPO’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs from February 6 to 10, 2021.

In Bakun, the continuous marijuana eradication of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) resulted to the uprooting of more or less 91,500 pieces fully grown marijuana plants with a total estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of Php 18,300, 000.00.

In Kibungan, operatives of Benguet PPO uprooted a more or less 7,070 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants, 1,050 pieces of marijuana seedlings and three kilos of dried marijuana stalks with a total estimated DDB value of Php 1,816,000.00.

All marijuana plants were burned on-site and only samples were taken by the operatives for evidentiary purposes.

Aside from marijuana eradication, Benguet PPO has conducted series of buy-bust operations that resulted in the arrest of two drug personalities in Benguet.

Operatives of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) arrested Gerbel Kim Caga listed as High Value Individual in a buy-bust operation in Pico, La Trinidad.

According to the report of La Trinidad MPS, arrested suspect Caga was apprehended after he sold two pieces of plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.22 g with an estimated DDB value of Php 1,496.00 to one of the operatives who acted as a poseur-buyer.

Meanwhile, in Buguias, personnel of Buguias MPS has arrested Charlie Tabao-ican Timpac in Brgy. Abatan.

Mr. Timpac was arrested after he sold to the police operative who acted as poseur-buyer a piece heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.12 g with a DDB value of Php 816.00.

As the result of the operation, operatives were able to recover five pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.81g with an estimated DDB value of Php 5,508.00.

All arrested suspects are now facing charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PROCOR RPIO)
