Illegally sawn lumbers seized in a checkpoint in Kalinga, 1 arrested

Camp Bado Major Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – (May 12, 2021) – A case of Violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines is being readied for filing against a violator caught attempting to pass through a checkpoint with undocumented lumbers at Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga in the morning of May 9, 2021.

Citing report submitted by the Kalinga Police, PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE identified the arrested suspect as   Ramon Libunao Rivera, 54, a resident of Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Same report revealed that police operatives flagged down the elf driven by the suspect after noticing that the vehicle was loaded with freshly cut sawn white lumbers. The arrest was made after he failed to show pertinent documents for such. Likewise, 52 pieces of illegally sawn lauan lumbers with total of 624 Board Feet and a street value of Php 31,200.00 and the vehicle used by the suspect were confiscated.

Rivera and the vehicle used was  brought to Tabuk City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition while the confiscated lumbers were turned-over to DENR Tabuk City for administrative adjudication. (PROCOR- PIO)
