21.9M WORTH OF MARIJUANA PLANTS ERADICATED IN TINGLAYAN, KALINGA

CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet- (June 17, 2021) – As Kalinga PPO continuously intensify their campaign against marijuana cultivation in the province, 21.9M worth of marijuana plants and seedlings were eradicated in more than 1-hectare land area in the Municipality of Tinglayan, Kalinga on June 14 – 16, 2021.

Citing reports from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE said that the three-day operations by joint personnel of Kalinga PPO RPDEU/RID/RSOG PROCOR, RIU14, 1503rd MC RMFB15, 141 SAC PNP SAF, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Kalinga led to the discovery of 11 marijuana plantations in three barangays of Tinglayan.

In Barangay Butbut Proper, operatives eradicated a total of 57,500 fully grown marijuana plants and 65,000 seedlings discovered in an estimated land area of 6,650 sqm with Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P14,100,000.00. Said plants were discovered in six different plantation sites.

Also, in Barangay Loccong, four sites were discovered in an estimated land area of 4,000 sqm planted with 34,000.00 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants with SDP of Php 6,800,000.00.

Lastly, in Barangay Buscalan, operatives destroyed 5,000 fully-grown marijuana plants with SDP of Php 1,000,000.00 planted in an estimated land area of 500 sqm.

In total, 96,500 fully grown marijuana plants and sixty-five thousand 65,000 seedlings were burned on site from a total land area of 11,150 square meters during the 3-day operations. (PROCOR-PIO)
