1,011 students to be under SPES in Kalinga

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 12 (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its partner employers will hire 1,011 students in the province under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) this summer.

 The slots are distributed to partner-employer  local government units  with the provincial government  hiring 150, Balbalan Municipality – 100, Lubuagan – 48, Pasil – 50, Pinukpuk – 50, Rizal – 107, Tabuk City – 375, Tanudan – 60 and Tinglayan – 70.

 Anthony Luminang of DOLE-Kalinga said beneficiaries will work for 20 days with daily wage rates ranging from P367.55 to P472.55.

 Under the SPES partnership, DOLE and employer-LGU share in the payment of salaries that varies at 60%-40%, 40%-60% and 50%-50%.

 DOLE has allotted P3, 698,824 for the program which aimed to provide educational support to students especially this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Luminang said.

 DOLE urged partner-LGUs to facilitate processing of application documents so that work will start as scheduled in June.

With the pandemic, employers are required to provide facemask and face shield to hired students. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
