DAGUPAN CITY, 10 Feb (PIA) – The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), the lead communications arm of the government, continues its advocacy for transparency and accountability in the government amidst the pandemic.

Undersecretary Kristian Ablan of PCOO, who also serves as the  program director for  the Freedom of Information (FOI), said the government carries the important responsibility of providing timely, accurate and reliable information especially during a public health crisis, and all the more that the overarching principles of open government must be practiced and upheld in governance.

“To further supplement these efforts, the PCOO will be conducting the 2021 PCOO Roadshows, which aims to inform and engage the public on the government’s responses, actions, and programs against COVID-19 pandemic in the country,” Usec. Ablan told the Philippine Information Agency.

To ensure an extensive reach for the IEC initiatives, the Roadshows this year will visit various locations across the country, he added.

In the Province of Pangasinan, the Roadshow will be held in Dagupan City on February 11.

Usec. Ablan will be joined by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, co-chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases; Assistant Secretary Jusan Vincent Arcena of PCOO’s Global Media and Public Affairs; and Director Pebbles Duque of the Bureau of Communication Services (BCS).

In view of the health protocols implemented due to COVID-19, participants from various sectors will be limited. Health protocols will be observed for the whole duration of the event. (JCR/VHS/PIA Pangasinan)
