Marriage week celebration on
The city’s celebration of Marriage week goes on Feb. 7 to 14, with the theme, “Commitment through the years: Changing Seasons, Unchanging Love.”
This points out unwavering love in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic conditions but instead strengthens partnerships, the celebration committee agreed in a virtual meeting last Friday.
Spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Betty Fangasan, in coordination with national agencies and local government offices; activities push through with participants complying with minimum public health standards (MPHS) and restrictions during the city’s current alert level three status.
As gatherings are still suspended, the launching is done Feb. 7 through virtual or online means. Couples in government service including city officials and their spouses who are deemed as inspiration in marriage situations, shall be featured in a presentation, it was announced.
Announcements for the marriage week celebration shall be hung simultaneously in public places, CSWDO personnel Coralie Dulnuan said.
On Feb. 11. marriage enrichment counseling for seven couples per social welfare unit is conducted with proper profiling and documentation, featuring problems and hurdled challenges encountered during the pandemic, while pre-marriage orientation goes on from Feb. 7 to 14 at the Health Services Office (HSO) in coordination with the local civil registrar (LCR), other government agencies and counselors from government and religious groups.
Couples’ parenting forum is slated anytime during the month through every unit’s invitation to the barangays.
Modular session for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) also goes on through the month of February.
Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) are not left out, with virtual meetings with loved ones, as coordinated with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology with faith-based partner Rev. Rowena Orajay of Uplife Movement. A Strong Family Program shall be done with the guidance of trained pastors and social workers and a renewal of vows through the office of Councilor Lilia Farinas pending arrangement as to suitable venues is also in the celebration schedule. – Julie G.
