BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb. 9(PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) said there is a shortage of pork in the towns of Bambang and Solano in this province.

DTI Provincial Director Henry Conel Jr. said this was known during their recent monitoring of pork, chicken and fish products in public markets in the two towns and in Bayombong.

The activities were conducted in collaboration with the DEpartment of Agriculture(DA) and the Local Price Coordinating Council(LPCC) of the said towns.

“Based on our monitoring of pork, chicken and fish in the two towns, there is a current shortage of pork supply due to the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus,” Conel said.

He added that the price of pork ranges from P340.00-P350.00, while chicken and fish prices ranges from P180.00-P190.00 and from P130.00-P150.00 respectively.

Conel said the LPCC team will continue to conduct further monitoring initiatives in order to protect the welfare of consumers against unreasonable price increases of agricultural products.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
