Development of city’s parks, ongoing
Several projects are targeted to open this month at the Botanical Garden as the city government continues to develop the Summer Capital’s parks for the greater enjoyment of its residents and visitors.
City environment parks management office (CEPMO) head Rhenan Diwas said other projects include the establishment of the Baguio City Arboretum (Phase 2) costing more than P18-million whose bidding is on-going; and the Post Office Park Development worth P10-million with its program of works is being prepared.
He said the redevelopment of Bayan Park’s calisthenics and fitness outdoor gym and its children’s playground amounting to almost P20-million is currently undergoing the bidding process.
Also in the pipeline is the proposed Wright Park Rejuvenation costing P99-million with P80-million to be sourced from the General Appropriations Act of 2022 and the rest of the funding from Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, Inc., Diwas said.
He said the city continues to implement its Adopt a Park for street islands/ Adopt a Tree Planting site program.
Diwas said coordination for a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing for the adoption of the Maharlika Center Island by Hotel Veniz; UP Drive street islands by SM; forest development/ research at Botanical Park; and others, is ongoing. – Gaby B. Keith
