CSWDO assists 34 cases of child abuse in first quarter of 2022
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) under acting head Liza Bulayungan assisted 34 cases of child abuse during the first quarter of this year.
During the flag-raising rites, April 25, at City Hall, CSWDO administrative officer IV Nestor Mestito said these include 18 cases of sexual abuse; nine physical abuse; and seven other forms of psychological abuse and more.
He disclosed that 34 cases of children in conflict with the law (CICL) were noted by his office during the same period where the majority was due to their involvement in theft.
Meanwhile, a total of 313 Baguio College Educational Financial Assistance Grant beneficiaries from the cityβs underprivileged families received their cash assistance on March 10, 2022 at the Baguio Convention Center.
Mestito said each grantee was given P6,000 per semester and that overall, the city was able to cater to 1,290 poor but deserving college students from 2020 to present.
He added that the local youth development council continues to conduct their regular quarterly meetings and spearheaded a blood-letting activity on March 12 this year with 61 donors and the recipients were children and young people.
With the implementation of their regular programs and services, Mestito said the CSWDO was able to serve 12,395 clients from all sectors during the period.
βThis means that the CSWDO was able to accomplish 31.9 percent of its target or planned number of clients for this year,β he claimed. – Gaby B. Keith
