City nabs more visitors with fake documents

Mayor Benjamin Magalong is urging personnel manning the city’s borders and triage areas to be more vigilant and discerning now that restrictions have been eased in the Summer Capital due to the steady decline in active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the past weeks.

He made the call during the regular management committee meeting, Oct. 26, with local officials at the Baguio Convention Center where it was disclosed by Executive Assistant IV Atty. Althea Alberto that 16 visitors belonging to the same group were caught with fake RT-PCR tests at the central triage center.

“We should never be complacent and let our guards down,” the Mayor said.

Alberto said that the city government will immediately file cases against those caught with fake documents and is warning those who will try to enter the city with such.

โ€œThe city does not condone these actions and will immediately act appropriately on whoever violates its rules and regulations,โ€ she said.

Alberto said that Health Services Office  personnel have conducted trainings to those manning the cityโ€™s borders and triages on how to spot fake documents like RT-PCR tests.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Antonette Anaban said the city nabbed 14 persons travelling with fake documents last August. — Gaby B. Keith
