City greets INC on its 10th founding anniversary

Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 292, series of 2022, extending the city government’s warmest greetings and felicitations to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) on the celebration of its 108th Founding Anniversary on July 27, this year.

Founded by Brother Felix Y. Manalo on July 27, 1914, the INC is now one of the largest and most respected religious organizations in the country, the approved measure states.

It states that aside from upholding Christian teachings found in the Holy Scriptures, the INC uplifts the socio-economic status of less fortunate people through its socio-civic activities such as the ‘Lingap sa Mamamayan’ or Aid for Humanity program.

“It is fitting and proper to accord due recognition to the important event in the lives of INC members as the city government of Baguio joins the entire nation and the global community in commemorating and celebrating the church’s founding anniversary,” the measure states.

Meanwhile, the Mayor also signed city council resolution no. 293, series of 2022,  requesting the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) under Antonette Anaban to furnish the local legislature the total amount of the remaining quick response funds (QRF) of the Summer Capital.

The QRF are built-in budgetary allocations that represent pre-disaster or standby funds for agencies in order to immediately assist areas stricken by catastrophes and crises, the approved measure states.

“On untold occasions, it has been the practice of the city government of Baguio to extend financial assistance to cities, municipalities and provinces hit by natural or man-made disasters which will be charged against the QRF under the CDRRM Fund,” it states. – Gaby B. Keith
