Bongbong Marcos in isolation; apologizes for not attending the Comelec preliminary hearing

Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. begged off attending the Comelec preliminary hearing which was scheduled for today, January 7, on the petitions for his disqualification and to delist his name from the roster of presidentiables for the 2022 elections.

Through one of his closest friends, former congressman Anton Lagdameo, Marcos apologized to the poll body, particularly to Presiding Judge Rowena Guanzon, for the inconvenience, if any, caused by his failure to attend the prelude to the disposition of the cases.

Rep. Lagdameo said, “two personalities who’re with Marcos almost every day have been tested positive of the coronavirus – his chief of staff, lawyer Vic Rodriguez and his security escort, prompting the former senator to go in isolation.”

Marcos’ attending physician, Benedict Francis Valdecanas, issued a medical certificate saying that the former senator has difficulty in speaking due to a painfully congested throat and a fever.

“Upon my examination, Marcos had a temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius and his throat was hyperemic and swollen,” read part of Dr. Valdecanas’ medical certificate, the full contents of which was read in court during the Comelec preliminary hearing.

While the lawyers of BBM camp are attending the Comelec preliminary hearing, some of their colleagues are busy preparing for the quick response Covid assistance operations, directing the UniTeam volunteers in the distribution of medicines and face masks to hospitals in the National Capital Region.

The rest of the BBM campaign workers and volunteers were on mandatory RT-PCR tests at their headquarters today after more than 30 of them have been tested positive in the antigen test being conducted twice a week at their HQ.

Early this week, Marcos has personally ordered the inventory and repacking of their supplies at the headquarters and pre-positioning sites for immediate distribution.

The dispatch of ‘meds and vits’ and face masks for Covid response was UniTeam’s continuation for its calamity response after rounds of typhoon relief operations have been conducted for the victims of ‘Odette’ in the Visayas and Mindanao. ###
