VP Leni: COVID-19 medicine Molnupiravir available for free from OVP’s Bayanihan E-Konsulta
Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday, January 7, reiterated that Molnupiravir, the COVID-19 treatment pill, is available for free from the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) Bayanihan E-Konsulta for as long as it is recommended by the program’s volunteer doctors for qualified patients.
Robredo also encouraged Filipinos to avail themselves of the telemedicine program for medical concerns to alleviate the pressure on hospitals as they deal with the surge of COVID cases in the first week of 2022. Bayanihan E-Konsulta is the telemedicine program launched by OVP in April last year following a spike in cases to help ease the congestion in medical facilities and has not stopped operations since then.
“Nasa surge na naman tayo. Sana safe kayo. Gusto ko lang pong sabihin na gaya nung Swab Cab para sa testing na sinimulan ulit natin, up and running pa rin ‘yung ating Bayanihan E-Konsulta. Kung meron tayong nararamdaman at gustong ilapit sa doktor, pwede tayo mag-message sa Facebook page ng Bayanihan E-Konsulta para hindi na natin kailangan pumunta pa ng ospital,” Robredo said in a video message posted on her official social media accounts.
The Vice President renewed her call for medical and non-medical volunteers, including mental health professionals, to volunteer for Bayanihan E-Konsulta as COVID-19 cases continue to sweep across the country.
“Nung huling surge sa Metro Manila, nagawa natin ito: 1,078 na doktor, at 3,156 non-medical volunteers ang tumugon sa panawagan natin noon. Ganitong klaseng effort ulit ang kakailanganin natin sa harap ng surge na ito. Kakailanganin natin ang medical at non-medical volunteers kasama rin ang licensed mental health professionals. Nasa Facebook page natin ‘yung mga detalye for signing up,” she said.
The Bayanihan E-Konsulta is part of the OVP’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the free antigen testing provided by Swab Cab and the assistance to LGU vaccination efforts through the Vaccine Express.
