Sol Go, elucidate two basic principle in culminating Nutrition Month in Dontogan barangay
Baguio City – (July 29, 2022) – Dontogan Barangay officials led by OIC Punong Barangay Renato P. Bongcog and Kagawads: Precy L. Esteban, Hector L. Figueras and Barangay Admin Clerk Abby Alicoy in collaboration with the City Government of Baguio and the Atab Health Center is indeed thankful for the opportunity to celebrate life through the culminating of Nutrition Month with the theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon”.
Since the beginning of July, everyone was reminded of the importance of health and the environment to the constituents of Dontogan barangay. Thus, various activities on nutrition were given to all the women, youth, and communities. Some of the activities that everyone participated in were Zumba, Fit to Right Challenge, and Survival Garden Contest also the Feeding Program is for all the grade school pupils included in the activities.
The presence of Ma’am Soledad “Sol” Go representing Congressman Marquez Go, Ms. Angelita T. Sabado – Nutrition Officer III/City. Nutrition Program Coordinator, CNPC, Dr. Karla C. Tabin – Medical Officer IV, Ms. Elsie Placido – District Nutrition Program Coordinator, and Ms. Remedios B. Poclan – Atab Health Midwife.
Sol Go said, “I raised this topic for the youth to elucidate the two important basic principles the first is back to naturals, which means we should avoid processed food, huwag natin pakakainin ang mga anak natin na hindi natural na pagkain, because this food ay wala na talagang nutrient dahil marami na itong preservatives, foods contain chemical additives, food coloring at monosodium or vetsin this is not only good for children but for senior citizen also, I think these basic principles that we need to remember for example, the tocino and hotdogs frozen which is too much coloring of red so, we should avoid all these kinds of foods
“Ang pwede natin ipakain sa breakfast like camote, banana, wheat bread, rice, egg, milk ito yun mga pang healthy na breakfast na kailangan ng ating mga anak,”
“Eventually, kung lagi ito ang kinakain ng mga anak natin masasanay na sila nagiging addictive na dahil sa food chemicals additives at later on habang lumalaki sila ay makakaapekto na ito sa kanilang health,”
“Especially sa mga fastfood, alamin natin ang mga pagkain sa fastfood na makakasama sa health natin,”
“Upang maiwasan natin ang mga sakit na silent killer like yun Diabetes, high blood at Cancer dahil ang mga ganitong sakit ay nag-uugat yan mga pagkain na hindi naturals,”
“We should be preventive and proactive when it comes to our health”
“Second principle, “Moderation” sometime we cannot prevent these children na masabihan sila na huwag kumain ng mga nakakasama sa mga bata dahil sa advertisement kasi nakikita ng mga bata yan sa television so, tayong mga parents we shall be the one who regulate everything, kailangan sabihin natin sa kanila na “once in a while, but not everyday” na yun na lang ang kakainin nila,”
“Besides is physical, dahil our physical body is just one aspect, so hindi lang tayo sa mga nutritious food to our body’s healthy, what is important is exercise, kailangan natin ang galaw- galaw mag exercise especially sa mga senior citizens, mag exercise tayo sa labas upang yun araw ay makakakuha tayo ng vitamin D diyan sa araw and vitamin D is anti-Covid na kailangan sa ating katawan,”
“So, kailangan natin panatilihin gawin araw-araw na kumain ng masusustansiyang pagkain yun naturals food, maging habit natin ang exercise at ang pagtulog ng walong oras, because the body heals at 11 in the evening yun katawan natin ay nagre replenish importante rin ito, and one thing also yun emotionally health ng mga anak natin they should not be only intelligent but, they should be emotionally intelligent o yun EQ nila ay mataas din kapantay ng kanilang intelligence kasi may batang magaling pwedeng honor student at ma achieve ang academic honors pero mahina ang loob, yun batang maabilidad mas nagiging successful pa so, para sa akin ang pinaka importante kasi tayo we are looking at developing holistic children, hindi lang sila physical healthy, hindi lang emotionally mentally healthy but they should be spiritually healthy, kailangan rin natin ilapit sa Panginoong Diyos ang mga batang ito, kailangang-kailangan nila yan hanggang sa paglaki ng mga anak natin ay magkaroon sila ng pananampalataya at pagkakilala sa Panginoong Diyos,” Go concluded # Mario D.
