BAGUIO CITY (April 22, 2026) Demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and community wellness, Wright Park Hotel partnered with Barangay Lualhati in conducting a meaningful plogging activity early Wednesday morning.

Held at 6:00 a.m., the initiative combined physical fitness with environmental responsibility, as participants engaged in “plogging”—a practice that involves walking or jogging while collecting waste along the route. The activity underscores a growing movement within the tourism sector to adopt eco-friendly practices that benefit both the environment and local communities.

More than a simple clean-up drive, the initiative reflects Wright Park Hotel’s alignment with the Department of Tourism’s advocacy for a circular economy. This approach promotes reducing waste, reusing resources, and encouraging responsible consumption within both the workplace and the broader community.

Through the plogging activity, participants actively contributed to several key environmental goals, including minimizing waste at its source to prevent litter from reaching landfills and waterways, raising awareness on proper waste segregation, strengthening community engagement, and promoting environmental stewardship—now considered a core standard in the hospitality industry.

The circular economy model challenges the traditional “take-make-dispose” system by encouraging practices that extend the lifecycle of materials and reduce environmental impact. Organizers emphasized that initiatives like plogging serve as practical and impactful ways to embody these principles in everyday actions.

Participants were also encouraged to wear sporty attire paired with the Green WPH shirt, symbolizing unity and the hotel’s strong commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism.

Organizers highlighted that small, collective actions can lead to significant positive change, especially in a premier destination like Baguio City, where protecting the natural environment remains vital to sustaining tourism and ensuring community well-being. #
