PROCOR joins the commemoration of GALANT SAF 44 HEROES
BAGUIO CITY – (January 25, 2022) – Police Regional Office Cordillera joins the whole nation in the commemoration of the gallant sacrifice of the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) heroes who died seven years ago during the anti-terrorism operation.
The Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, joined the ceremonial laying of wreaths at the SAF Memorial at the Manor, Camp John Hay, Baguio City on the morning of January 25, 2022.
Other key personalities who attended the said ceremony were Hon. Benjamin B. Magalong, the Mayor of Baguio City; PBGEN PREXY D TANGGAWOHN, Deputy Director of the Directorate for Human Resources and Doctrine Development (DHRDD); PLTCOL MELCHOR A BUAQUEN, Battalion Commander of 14 Special Action Battalion of PNP SAF; an,d other members of the command group and personnel of PROCOR.
Present also is the General Manager of Hotel Manor, Mr. Ramon Cabrera and Mrs. Julie B. Cayang-o, representative of family members of Special Action Force (SAF) Heroes. Each paid their respect by laying a wreath on the memorial offered for the Fallen 44.
During the program, REV. PLTCOL JONATHAN CHY, Regional Pastoral Officer, rendered a prayer and officiated the blessing of the SAF Memorial. This was followed by a tribute message given by Mrs. Cayang-o and messages from the Chief PNP & the City Mayor.
According to Presidential Proclamation No. 164 issued by President Rodrigo R Duterte, in memory of SAF 44’s noble deeds and acts of valor, January 25 is declared as a day of National Remembrance. This will serve as a constant reminder of the continuing sacrifices made by our valiant uniformed men and women in the PNP.
Of the 44 troopers who died on the Mamasapano encounter, 14 are police officers from the Cordillera region. (PROCOR-PIO)
