PERKS, DISCOUNTS AWAIT VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS

01 July 2021 – At least 20 establishments in Baguio City have taken the initiative to give product discount or a freebie to their clients who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019.

As of July 2, the list of establishments giving discounts and freebies to vaccinated clients include Zark’s Burger, David Salon, Chili’s, The SM Store, DC, Auntie Anne’s, Artwork, Mesa, Jollibee, Mc Donalds, Macao Imperial Tea, Koomi, Manam, The Travel Club, Kureji, Potato Corner, Buffalo’s Wings N’ Things, Tiger Sugar, Mango Tree Cafe and Mang Inasal among others.

These establishments have initiated the discounts and perks as their community social responsibility programs. Most of the establishments require clients to present their COVID-19 vaccination card or Vaccination QR Code whenever they avail of products and services.

To maintain support to the vaccination efforts of the local government and influence those still having vaccine hesitancy, Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong and the Baguio Tourism Council recently raised a public call for business and enterprise establishments to give meaningful discounts and other perks to customers who have gone through the protection of being vaccinated.

“The BTC would like to thank business establishments in the City who have taken the initiative to provide perks and discounts for fully vaccinated individuals. This is aligned with the efforts of the LGU to promote a positive response to being vaccinated,” said the BTC in a statement.

In support to the initiative of business establishments who already started giving perks and discounts, the BTC is calling on all its members to follow suit.

The BTC is a non-stock non-profit organization composed of the private and public agencies with the goal of uniting and elevating the different sectors of businesses in Baguio City such as but not limited to restaurants, hotels, inns, tour, travel, and transport.

The local government reactivated the private sector-led and government supported BTC in 2019 to further enhance the robust growth of the local economy in line with the 15-point collective agenda of the present administration for a revitalized tourism industry.

While perks and discounts are not mandatory from establishments, vaccinees will simply show their vaccination cards or vaccination QR code from the https://bakuna.baguio.gov.ph/  to the respective establishments. – Jessa Samidan
