P1.2-M Marijuana seized; Regional Top Ten drug personality held

CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet- (September 8, 2021) – A farmer with a standing warrant of arrest for illegal drugs was arrested after operatives seized P1.2-M worth of Dried Marijuana bricks in a police chase and armed encounter in Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga on September 7, 2021.

According to reports submitted to the Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, disclosed that joint operatives of Kalinga PPO, RID/RSOG, PDEA, RMFB 15 and HPG has arrested the suspect identified as Victor Guimba, 36, listed as High-Value Individual (HVI) and Regional Top Ten Drug Personality.

According to the same report, operatives received information that a gray Toyota Fortuner from Metro Manila is in Tabuk City to fetch and get marijuana from the suspect.

When the said vehicle was spotted in Bakras, Bulanao, Tabuk City, operatives went to check the occupants of the car and confirmed that one passenger was indeed the suspect Guimba.

The operatives then served his warrant of arrest, however, they weren’t able to arrest him as the suspect pulled his gun and pointed it at one of the operatives, after which, he sped off his vehicle and drove towards Mapaoay, Ipil, Kalinga.

Operatives immediately chased after the suspect and asked him to stop the vehicle, but instead, the suspect fired upon the operatives, this prompted the operatives to fire back.

The suspect’s vehicle then plunged into the rice field at the side of the road, while Guimba sustained a gunshot wound on his left thigh. The suspect was then immediately rushed to Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

During the operation, the police seized 10 pieces of dried Marijuana bricks with Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PHP 1,200,000.00; a unit of Cal 9mm Smith and Wesson with 4 live ammunition; 2 hand grenades; cash; cellphone; a bag with documents; and the vehicle used by the suspect.

Also, a minor who was with Guimba inside the car was rescued by the operatives and was brought to Tabuk CPS for proper disposition. (PROCOR-PIO).
