Mayor to intensify inspections of projects
If you bump into somebody who looks like Mayor Benjamin Magalong around the community, chances are you are seeing the real thing and not some clone.
The mayor has served the intention to spend more time outside of his office to conduct inspections and follow through on projects.
Inspections will be conducted every Thursday and Friday of the week.
The city has observed a marked improvement in the quality of projects undertaken since making inspections regular and mandatory before acceptance of projects in 2019.
The weekly round of inspections which the mayor holds with City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Pena and representatives of the City Building and Architecture Office, City Engineering Office and City Environment and Parks Management Office was initiated in October 2019 after observing that most projects fall below standard including school buildings and flood and erosion control works.
Since then, the team has conducted 45 inspection rounds covering hundreds of projects.
Projects that failed were refused payment and given punch lists for corrective measures and most of the offending contractors were able to comply.
Dela Pena said huge improvement was observed on the 13th round of inspection and since then 100 percent of the projects were found compliant with the project specifications and the quality standard.
The mayor thanked the contractors and project implementers for cooperating with the city in its thrust to foster integrity in project implementation to achieve quality and beneficial outputs for the end users. β Aileen P. Refuerzo
