Mayor issues memo on preparedness, response measure for typhoons

City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) Chairman and Mayor Benjamin Magalong issued, August 31, 2022, memorandum no. 127  on the pro-active and emergency preparedness and response measures for the possible effects of Tropical Depression ‘Gardo’ and Super Typhoon ‘Hinnamor’ (international name).

The memo is issued for the guidance of all Baguio CDRRMC members/agencies and all barangay DRRMCs.

It states that the CDRRM Office (CDRRMO)-Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be on Red Alert starting September 2 to 5 to provide timely, accurate and appropriate coordination; the EOC will be linked with the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), Baguio City Fire Station, Baguio City Emergency Medical Services (BCEMS), Phil. Red Cross Baguio (PRC), Office of Civil Defense-CAR, AFP (TOG1,21st AFGR, 14 RCDG) and Civic Action Groups.

All Barangay DRRMCs are mandated to activate their respective EOC’s, monitor their respective AOR’s and provide emergency response and advise those living near or within flood and landslide prone areas to perform pre-emptive evacuation.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Engineers Office, City Environment and Parks Management Office, City Health Services Office, City Buildings and Architecture Office and other City Department Offices engaged in disaster and emergency response are mandated to provide standby quick response teams.

The BCEMS, PRC-Baguio, Bureau of Fire Protection-Baguio, and BCPO will be on alert to provide efficient and effective emergency response while the CHSO will activate all district health centers with complete provision of necessary resources, essential medicines, PPEs and appropriate number of personnel, communication and transportation services.

AFP Reserve Units (21st AFGR and 14th RCDG), BB-PICAG, 911 on Call and other civic communication and rescue groups are activated to provide quick response teams to augment the CDRRMO. – Gaby B. Keith
