Globe sends disaster assistance as ‘Maring’ batters Northern Luzon
Globe has deployed its Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi services in three areas in Cagayan affected by Typhoon Maring as heavy rains and strong winds battered the northern part of Luzon.
Globe assures the public that its technical and support personnel are ready to assist as necessary to ensure continuous communications services.
The Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi stations were already deployed today, Oct. 12, 2021 in the following locations:
● Brgy Hall, Brgy Casambalangan, in front of Globe Tower and Petron
● Brgy. Ajat, Iguig, Cagayan; Iguig Central Terminal
● Brgy. Poblacion, Gonzaga, Cagayan; near Municipal Town Hall, in front of Christmarie Pharmacy
These stations will be available until Oct. 13, 2021 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Globe, in partnership with Ayala Foundation and Rise Against Hunger Philippines, is preparing relief operations for Cagayan. Likewise, GMA Kapuso Foundation is targeting to support 13,600 individuals or 3,400 families from affected areas in Benguet, Ilocos Norte, La Union, and other provinces in Northern Luzon.
Globe customers can donate their Globe Rewards points to relief operations of GMA Kapuso Foundation and Rise Against Hunger Philippines as each point is equivalent to ₱1. To do so, open the New GlobeOne app, click on the “Rewards” button and go to the “Donate” section where both partner NGOs are listed among partner-beneficiaries
To keep safe during severe weather disturbances, Globe advises residents to stay indoors, store enough food and water, prepare candles and first aid kits, ensure their flashlights have extra batteries, full charge their mobile phones, and stay alert for SMS from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). In its 11 am bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) says Maring is about to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility with its center located over 315 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h and gustiness up to 125 km/h.
Storm signal number two was hoisted over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Isabela (Palanan, Divilacan, Maconacon, Ilagan City, Tumauini, Cabagan, San Pablo, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano, Quirino, Gamu, Roxas, Mallig, Quezon), Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.
The rest of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Ifugao, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, the northern portion of Bataan (Samal, Morong, Dinalupihan, Abucay, Orani, Hermosa), the northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands, and Calaguas Islands are under storm signal number one. ###
