General Aguinaldo’s heir as guest speaker in Baguio Independence Day program
Proudly wear your Filipiniana or traditional ethnic attire on June 12 as the Philippines celebrates 124th Independence Day.
In Baguio City, the occasion will honor Mr. Emilio Aguinaldo Suntay III, Board member, General Emilio F. Aguinaldo Foundation as guest speaker according to Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Engr. Alec Mapalo.
Aguinaldo III is among the great grandsons of General Emilio Aguinaldo, who manages Aguinaldo Museum in Baguio City. Historical accounts noted that General Emilio Aguinaldo with Cordilleran warriors fought against colonizers during the Philippine-American Revolution while trying to traverse from Malolos to Ilocos Sur and passing through the hinterlands of the Cordillera region.
The program will carry the national theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas.”
Program starts at 8 in the morning on Sunday, June 12 at the Baguio Convention Center with the entry of the National Flag by the Baguio City Police Office and musical accompaniment by the Saint Louis University (SLU) Marching Band.
Singing of the national anthem will be led by the Baguio City Hall Choir with musical scoring by the LSU Marching Band.
The Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas will be led by PCpt. Shirley F. Boco of the BCPO followed by the opening prayer by Bishop Victor B. Bendico of the Diocese of Baguio.
The Baguio City Hall Choir and the SLU Marching Band will lead the singing of the Cordillera Hymn and the Baguio Hymn followed by the welcome remarks and the message of Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong as well as the message of Congressman Marquez O. Go.
The SLU Dance Troupe will be entertaining the audience with an intermission number before the speech of the guest speaker.
