City HSO affirms better COVID climate; vaccination plan in place

BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 12(PIA) – – The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) control and management in the city is vastly improving with recovery rate  reaching 93.56 percent, the highest recorded so far.

Based on Feb. 10 data of the City Health Services Office, Baguio has total confirmed COVID – 19 cases of 5,199 where 4,864 (93.56 percent) already recovered; 237 (4.55%) are active cases and 98 (1.88%) died.

City Health Officer Dr. Rowena Galpo, in the  Ugnayan media forum at the City Hall on Wednesday, affirmed that COVID – 19 situation in Baguio is getting much better wherein from the Average Daily Attack Rate(ADAR) of 11.1 (per 100,000 population) from January 1 – 23, it improved to 4.6 from January 24 to February 7.

For the 2-Week Growth Rate (2WGR) during the same period, new confirmed cases in the city went down by 59% or from 584 in Jan. 10 to 23, it decreased to 239 during the period January 24 to February 7. 

For the Critical Care Utilization Rate, Galpo said that occupancy on the COVID – 19 beds of the hospitals in Baguio is down to 58%   while utilization rate for the Temporary Treatment and Isolation Facilities is currently at 28%.  

With the COVID – 19 situation getting better for Baguio, Galpo reiterates the city government’s call for the cooperation of the city folks in strictly complying with the minimum health standards and safety protocols as the city prepares for the COVID vaccination roll out.

Galpo said the government is on track with the vaccination action plan, and a Vaccination Task Force and Operation Center is already in place.

She also shared that trainings for the vaccination rollout were already conducted and the city government is now into the master listing of the first priority population – health care workers -for the vaccination.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong is hands on and in the lead of all the vaccination preparations and on its roll – out. He wants that all preparations for the pre – vaccination must be done by the third week of February, Galpo said. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
