CDRRMC holds 1st quarter full council meeting

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) chaired by Mayor Benjamin Magalong held its 1st Quarter Full Council Meeting, March 25, here, that tackled its reconstitution and re-organization of sub-committees. 

Presided by CDRRM Office (CDRRMO) head Engr. Charles Carame and joined by members of the city’s Climate Change council, the one-day activity included the presentation of ordinance no. 64, series of 2023, that prescribes policies for the institutionalization of a city volunteer program and provides mechanisms for volunteer empowerment and development.

Presented during the meeting were the 2015 to 2023 comparative chart for emergency calls; 1st quarter physical accomplishment; fire assessment report on recent fire incidents affecting the city by the Baguio City Fire Station; and  current health issues by the City Health Services Office.

Also discussed were the CDRRMC resolution on pre-emptive and forced evacuation for the Summer Capital and updates on the city’s march towards achieving the Gawad KALASAG Seal of Good Local Governance.

Councilor Peter Fianza and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Baguio Office chief Millicent Carino joined the meeting where the latter delivered the closing remarks.

The CDRRMC aims to proactively minimize the impact of disaster or calamities in the city particularly in terms of destruction of property and threat to lives and the environment.

The DRRM Plan covers several thematic areas including disaster prevention and mitigation; disaster preparedness; disaster response; disaster rehabilitation and recovery; and climate change adaptation. – Gaby B. Keith
