Block 3, 4 improvement continues in preparation for typhoon season

Improvement works at Blocks 3 and 4 continued to reinforce the temporary structures put up at the erstwhile burned area and relocation sites with the onset of the typhoon season.

Planning began even before typhoon “Betty” hit as ordered by Mayor Benjamin Magalong who earlier spearheaded the speedy post-fire rehabilitation after a fire razed down some portions of the city’s trading center last March.

The City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) under Arch. Johnny Degay is once again taking the lead in the reinforcement work with the assistance of the Baguio City Police office under City Director P Col. Francisco Bulwayan Jr. and the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) under Chief Enforcer Daryll Longid.

Arman Catbagan of the CBAO planning, design and construction division said they are presently conducting restoration of additional roofing using corrugated GI sheets to provide added protection from the rains.

This will cover Blocks 3 and 4 and the temporary stalls at Upper Kayang.

The work also includes improvement and installation of additional downspouts in the areas erstwhile affected by the fire.

They expect the work to be completed by next week with the expected delivery of the complete materials. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
