Barangay Day 2022 celebration

The city government Baguio led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong together with members of the city council, barangay officials and residents joined the celebration of the Local Government Day, Barangay Day 2022 last October 10, 2022.

In his message during the opening program held at the Baguio Athletic Bowl, Mayor Magalong acknowledged the contribution of the barangay officials and residents in the city’s battle against COVID-19 through the implementation and compliance with the measures and policies on managing the crisis.

“Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa ating mga barangay sa inyong hirap at serbisyo when we are managing COVID-19.  Kung hindi dahil sa inyo, hindi natin mararating ang sitwasyon natin ngayon,” he said.

The mayor sought the support and cooperation of the community on the implementation of the city’s 54 catalytic projects that will be carried out for the next 3 years.

He emphasized the importance of these projects which he said aim to address climate change and urban decay problems and achieve sustainability in the city.

“By the 2043, urban decay in the city will be irreversible.  Hindi po natin maayos ang Baguio kung wala tayong gagawin.  We need to accept the fact na malaki ang problema natin, kaya tayo po ay magtulong tulong para masolusyunan itong urban decay,” he said.

During the celebration, several activities were held including Zumba dance competition and palarong pambarangay featuring sports activities participated in by the different barangays. – Ariel Biala
