Baguio sets visiting schedule for public cemeteries

Public cemeteries in Baguio City will be closed on Nov. 1 except for sponsored church services while visiting the tombs of departed loved ones will be scheduled per district beginning October 23 to Nov.5, 2022.

Public cemetery gates will open from 7AM to 4PM based on the agreements of the members of the ‘Oplan Kaluluwa 2022’ executive committee with City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Peña as action officer.

Last week the committee announced that cleaning of tombs is from October 3 to 22 and that bringing in cleaning materials will not be allowed beginning October 23 onwards.

The committee considered crowd management and traffic congestion as basis in the scheduling of visits to the public cemeteries per district.

The following are the visiting schedule per district:

Oct. 23 (Sunday) – districts 3, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20;

Oct. 24 (Monday) – districts 1, 2, 17, 18;

Oct. 25 (Tuesday) – districts 4, 5, 6, 16;

Oct. 26 (Wednesday) districts 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12;

Oct. 27 (Thursday) districts 3, 13, 14, 19, 20;

Oct. 28 (Friday) districts 3, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20;

Oct. 29 (Saturday) districts 1, 2, 4, 5;

Oct. 30 (Sunday) districts 6, 7, 8, 9, 16;

Oct. 31 (Monday) districts 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

Nov. 1 (Tuesday) – sponsored church services only; kindly visit the City Environment and Parks Management Office for scheduling

Nov. 2 (Wednesday) – districts 3, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20;

Nov. 3 (Thursday) – districts 1, 2, 4, 5;

Nov. 4 (Friday) – districts 6, 7, 8, 9, 16;

Nov. 5 (Saturday) – districts 10, 11, 12, 13,14

Those coming from nearby areas particularly la Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tublay and Tuba as well as all non-residents of Baguio may visit their departed any day except on November 1.

To avoid traffic, parking is not allowed along public thoroughfares near the cemeteries from Oct.23 to Nov.5, drop and go only.

The city also reminds the public not to bring prohibited materials inside the cemeteries such as liquor, firearms and pointed objects, flammable materials, gambling materials and loud speakers.

Vending and vendors are also prohibited inside public cemeteries.

There are more than ten public and private cemeteries in Baguio that will require crowd and traffic management by the Baguio City Police Office, the barangay and volunteers to ensure a safe and peaceful observance of the All-Saints’ Day. – Jessa Mardy Samidan
