BAGUIO MAYOR IS PMAP “PEOPLE MANAGER OF THE YEAR” REGIONAL WINNER

30 June 2021 – Mayor Benjamin Magalong was declared Regional Winner for Luzon in the People Manager of the Year category of the Philippine Management Association of the Philippines  (PMAP) Awards according to city human resource management officer (CHRMO) head Atty. Augustin Laban III.

In Tuesday’s regular management committee meeting of city officials at Baguio Convention Center, Laban said the city government is also vying in PMAP’s Employer of the Year category but the regional winner has yet be announced.

He said the association will choose among the Mayor and the other Regional winners  representing Mindanao, Visayas and National Capital Region (NCR) as to who will be declared National Winner of the prestigious award.

National winners of both categories will be awarded on July 30 in Metro Manila, Laban said.

He said PMAP representatives will be conducting interviews with the Mayor, selected officials and employees in July as basis for the selection of the PMAP Employer of the Year national champion.

Institutionalized in 1977, the PMAP Awards is a values-driven, principles-led, evidence-based, innovation-enabled, output-oriented program that publicly honors organizations, individuals and people programs that have achieved excellence and distinction in people management.

Councilor and PMAP regional president Vladimir Cayabas said PMAP is a professional, non-stock, not-for-profit organization of over 1,800 member companies and individual management executives engaged or interested in human resource management and industrial relations work.

“As a professional institution, PMAP helps institutions mold an enlightened, competent, socially responsible, and influential sector of people managers who can effectively participate in nation-building,” he said.

The organization also helps its members become more effective on the job by teaching the human aspect of management via numerous career development forums and training programs, Cayabas added. – Gaby B. Keith
