DOH-CAR lauds Baguio on agressive HIV-AIDS drive

The Cordillera office of the Department of health (DOH-CAR) lauded the local government, through the City Health Services office (CHSO), for its aggressive campaign against the spread of human immune virus – Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV-AIDS) over the past several decades that paved the way for increased awareness among members of the affected sectors.

This commendation was conveyed by DOH-CAR officials to concerned city and health officials during the commemoration of World AIDS Day held at the Baguio Convention Center last Monday.

Health officials noted that individuals with HIV can avail of early treatment from the different health facilities to prevent the same from becoming full blown AIDS that might compromise their health condition in the future.

Further, in the city, regional health officials claimed that there is no stigma for persons with HIV and AIDS because of the availability of early treatment aside from the aggressive information and education campaign being conducted to entice people having multiple sex partners to undergo the available tests to ascertain their respective HIV status.

According to them, it is important for individuals, especially those working in night establishments, to ascertain their HIV status through the available tests in the different health facilities so that they will be able to make sure that they are free from the dreaded illness that might affect their overall health condition once they are not able to avail of whatever available early treatment.

The DOH-Car recognized the aggressive efforts of the local government to ensure that people will practice safe sex to avoid contracting the dreaded illness and prevent them from compromising their health condition in the future.Health officials continued to rally for people to avail of the existing tests to contribute in ascertaining their HIV condition for the overall health benefits for their partners. – Dexter A.
