Baguio on blue alert status for tropical storm Goring

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chaired by Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong issued Memorandum No. 9, series of 2023 for the activation of the council members, response clusters, barangay disaster risk reduction and management committees and all other agencies concerned to prepare for Tropical Storm Goring.
The memorandum was issued 2PM Friday, 25 August 2023.
Per PAGASA Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 5 issued 5AM of August 25, 2023, the center of the eye of Tropical Storm Goring was estimated to be 220 kilometre East Southeast of Basco, Batanes.
TS Goring is moving Southwestward slowly with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometre per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kilometres per hour.
While there is no tropical cyclone wind signal yet over Baguio City, the Smart City Command Center will be on Blue Alert starting Friday, August 25 to provide timely, accurate, and appropriate coordination with all warning and frontline service agencies.
Identified preparedness and response clusters include the City Engineering Office, the City Building and Architecture Office, the City Environment and Parks Management Office, the City Health Office, the Baguio City Police Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and all barangay disaster risk reduction and management committees.
The city’s Contingency Plan for Hydro Meteorological Hazards shall be activated upon the evaluation and recommendation of the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) Team. – JMPS
