35th CHR founding anniversary celebration held

The Commission on Human Rights-Cordillera office under  Regional Director Atty. Romel Daguimol led in the celebration of the  CHR’s  35th Foundation Anniversary on May 16 at Orchard Hotel, here, with the theme, “Matatag na Komisyon, Maaasahan sa lahat ng Panahon!”. 

Daguimol said the event aims to highlight CHR’s accomplishments as the National Human Rights Institution in the country under the 5th Commission and to foster its visibility through different media platforms.     

In a letter to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, he thanked the Chief Executive “for the continued partnership in the promotion and protection of human rights.”  

Several members of the Baguio City Human Rights Action Team led by Atty. Hannah Calitong of the City Legal Office, joined the half-day activity punctuated by a press forum with members of the local media. 

Reelected councilor and journalist Arthur Allad-iw, Gawad Gabay Karapatan Regional Awardee in the 2021 Search for Gawad Karapatang Pantao, delivered an inspirational message while Col. Christopher Sab-it, Deputy Brigade Commander of the 503rd INF Brigade PA; PLt. Col. Luisito Meris, PRO-COR Human Rights Office chief; and Ferdinand Gonzales, Executive Dir. of POST Philippines, gave their solidarity messages.

The CHR-CAR’s various services including protection and policy advisory; prevention; and promotion services were also presented. – Gaby B. Keith
