2.5 MILLION FOR BAGUIO’S OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUTH
A total of 2.5 million was accumulated in the Alay Lakad para sa Kabataan ng Bagong Pilipinsas Nationwide Walk event.
The proceeds of the ticket sales was handed over to Liga ng mga Barangay President Councilor Rocky Aliping for all the 128 barangays to develop out-of-school youth scholarship programs.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong joined the walk. He went straight to the activity upon arriving from Palawan for the Batang Pinoy opening ceremony.
“This event reflects our solidarity and our strong sense of civic mindedness. Binibigyan natin ng halaga ang kinabukasan ng ating kabataan,” the mayor said in his message.
The mayor also expressed deep appreciation to the Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc, city officials and employees, punong barangays and barangay officials,, civic society organizations, Bureau of Fire Protection, Baguio City Police Office, Philippine Military Academy, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, BENECO, Baguio Water District, and to all the those who joined the parade.
