VACCINE FAST LANES, MOVACC PROVIDED

25 June 2021- Vaccination fast lanes are provided at the University of Baguio (UB) gym, Saint Louis University (SLU) gym and SM parking area, for individuals with infirmities.

Those who could avail of said lanes are cancer patients, persons on dialysis and/on wheelchair or those who cannot be exposed further to situations or areas where viral transmission may occur during queues or long lines.

This was according to Data Management Team member Ranville Medina during a meeting among his team, the City Mayor’s (CMO) and Health Services Office (HSO) personnel last Wednesday.

Pre-registration with bakuna.baguio.gov.ph is needed, and a medical certificate/clearance from a physician should be presented to the screening personnel before vaccination, it was disclosed.

Screening is still conducted, along with pre-requisite steps in the vaccination process and post vaccination observation.

The service is in addition to mobile vaccination (Movacc), spearheaded by the City Health Services Office (HSO) headed by Dr. Rowena Galpo. Assistant CHSO head Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes is core head of the Movacc team which conducts house visits to senior citizens, persons with disabilities or those with difficulty going to vaccination sites. Physician Khecy Manuel-Colas, Screener Nurse Ricky Ducas, Vaccinator Nurse Agnes Johanna Abad, Volunteer Nurse Miel Madrid and an ambulance driver complete the team.

House visits are scheduled for those unable or have difficulties going to the vaccination sites, or even to the district health centers. According to Dr. Manuel-Colas, triaging/registration, counselling, screening and vaccinations are done, with a 30-minute to one hour post-vaccination observation time for side-effects.

A total of 141 from the 255 reported senior citizens, bedridden and persons with disability (PWDs) were vaccinated a month after the launching of the Movacc. Vaccinated persons are from the Aurora Hill, Engineers Hill, City Camp, Lucban, Campo Filipino, Loakan districts.

Schedules are being arranged with Mines View, Atok Trail, Atab, Quirino Hill, Irisan, Asin, Pacdal, Scout Barrio, Quezon Hill and Pinsao districts.

Registration may still be done online at bakuna.baguio.gov.ph and confirmed at the barangay health centers, Dr. Colas said, as vaccination schedules are arranged as to patient locale.

The fast lane and Mobile Vaccination programs were also discussed during the recent Management Committee meeting with Mayor Benjamin Magalong, City Administrator Bonifacio de la Pena, and city executives present. – Julie G. Fianza
