DSWD LIVELIHOOD GRANTS GIVEN TO 355 BENEFICIARIES

BAGUIO CITY – (25 June 2021) – A total of 355 beneficiaries have availed of the Department of Social Welfare and Development regional office’s (DSWD-CAR) livelihood assistant grant amounting to P5,055,000 according to the city social welfare and development office (CSWDO) under Betty Fangasan.

In Monday’s flag-raising rites at City Hall led by Rep. Mark Go, Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, CSWDO deputy chief Liza Bulayungan said the grant was distributed to the beneficiaries on June 14 at the Baguio Convention Center.

“The amount granted is of great aid to our clients in augmenting their livelihood that would uplift their quality of life,” she said.

The CSWDO was also able to collect P418,540 as rollback from the city’s self-employment assistance beneficiaries (SEA) as of June 15, this year, which represents a huge decrease in rollback collections as compared to previous years, she said.

Bulayungan said the shortfall can be blamed on the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19)  in 2020 that is still ongoing, since SEA beneficiaries were not able to work due to lockdowns and other restrictions.

Meanwhile, the city government,  thru the CSWDO and public employment services office (PESO), has entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Labor and Employment regional office (DOLE-CAR) in implementing the DOLE Kabuhayan Project.

She said 173 profiled vendors at Burnham Park were identified as recipients of the project with total funding of P5,145,590 that was already downloaded by DOLE to the city government.-Gaby B. Keith
