UNVEILING MURAL WALL OF HEROES

BAGUIO CITY – After the one and a half years in the making at the peak of the pandemic, this is a journey that perhaps summarizes the essence of what happened here in the City Creative of Baguio, a tribute of our city community calling together, this will make us go further and really recover and heal us one, now to unveil the mural wall of heroes held Sunday (December 12, 2021) at the BGH Rotunda.

Untying of ribbon led by the city mayor Benjamin Magalong, Congressman Mark Go, Vice-Mayor Faustino Olowan, city councilors, City Health Office Dr. Rowena Galpo, BCPO Director PCOL. Glenn Lonogan, DOH-CAR Director Dr. Ruby Constantino, DOT-CAR Director Jovi Ganongan and the local artist.

Mayor Magalong in his message, “To all health workers and frontliners who sacrifice so much with their determination and commitment really make our city safe so, all we offer this “Heroes Wall” to them, to everyone and to thank also the artist who made everything happen,  Silvino,  Eli, Sandy, Gale, Ronald, Chrysler Cabalo and Xanthos Oyan these are all seven artists of the 23 Sampaguita Artists Collective also with the help of Ferdie Balanag, city administrator Bonifacio Dela Peña who really work hard to create this mural and they added also  delivery, jeepney and butterfly with sunflower is actually a symbol also of our Panagbenga, I always say in the City of Baguio “We Work As One, We Heal As One and May Recover As One”

Congressman Go said, “The intention of making a difference for themselves as they express for themselves and at the same time for others especially for our frontliners, this is one way of recognizing them for all the things that they have done for our city; the medical practitioners, nurses,  doctors, our police,  government officials and other individuals who have contributed that will be able to manage this COVID-19 pandemic, and I salute them for all the works they have done. I would like to recognize our artists they belong to the so-called 23 Creative Space headed by Silvino Dulnuan, Elizardo Ituriaga Jr. Ronald Allan De Leon, Gale Karyl De Leon, Kim Antonette Lopez, Sheryl Dulnuan, Jenno Madeo, Joyce Anne Mallare and Kenneth Mark Banasan we know they have done an outstanding job and of course all the frontliners, and its very fortunate that this mural is in front of the Baguio General Hospital, and as a measure in order that to ensure that this hospital will be able to cater to more patients that only COVID patients we have been successful increasing the bed capacity of hospital from 500 to 800 and we are very lucky also that the PAGCOR is donated P28 million for BGH for them to be able to buy a new CT Scan and an Ultrasound that will help our doctors and nurses in providing service to the people here in the city of Baguio,”

With the special appearance also of DAVIES Paint Regional Manager North Luzon Jun Benadides who voluntarily donate paints to the city and to help artists especially to our frontliners.  Mario Oclaman /FNS
