Tayabas celebrates History Month through a Lecture series

Tayabas, Quezon – In celebration of History Month, a lecture series intended for Social Studies teachers, researchers, and enthusiasts has started and is about to wind down this August every Saturday evening. Different speakers from the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and Stella Maris College, Quezon City, via Zoom platform, with e-certificates.
The webinar started last August 2, with retired Prof. Dr. Rowena Reyes-Boquiren about social history during the Spanish colonial period. Then, Prof. Dr. Lars Raymund Ubaldo discussed the propaganda movement last August 9. The most recent of the series, Dr. Estelita Llanita, shared the narrative of Papa Isio last August 16.
There are two more lectures by August 23 by Prof. Dr. Gilbert Macarandang and on August 30 by Prof. Dr. Ariel Lopez. The second-to-last Saturday would be devoted to “Pakikibaka Laban sa Dayuhan: Kilusang Gerilya at ang President Quezon’s Own Guerillas (PQOG). Then the last lecture on “Tugon ng Pilipino sa Kasaysayan: Diplomasya at ang mga Sultanatong Sulu at Mindanao.”
The webinar series is organized by Tayabas (Quezon) Studies and Creative Writing Center ATAGAN (Alternatibong Tahanan ng mga Akda at GAwang Nasaliksik, Inc).
