Strawberry Fest will begin with the opening & Ribbon Cutting of Strawberry Lane on March 4
La Trinidad, Benguet – Muling masisilayan ang pagsibol ng production ng mga makakatas at matatamis na strawberry ngayon buwan ng Marso, kaugnay sa ika-42 pagdiriwang ng Strawberry Festival sa temang – La Trinidad: The Strawberry Capital of the Philippines (Sirom ni Duting)
Siniguro ni La Trinidad Mayor Romeo K. Salda na ayon sa municipal ordinance ay inihanda na ang mga kapana-panabik na kaganapan sa isang buwan ng selebrasyon na kung saan ang 21 nito ay mula sa LGU-led events at ang 10 ay organisado ng community- led events.
Ipinaliwanag ni La Trinidad Mayor Romeo K. Salda ang kahulugan ng tema sa taong ito na “Sirom ti Duting” “Ito ay Ibaloi word in which it is produce of a town is strawberry since it is our One Town, One Product (OTOP),”
“The Strawberry production now we have 39 hectares of strawberry production in the municipality of La Trinidad and 1,020 strawberry farmers producing 18 to 20 tons per hectare so, we have sufficient production in the municipality,”
“We have strawberry seedlings from China which is a White Strawberry and during the contest last year this is the sweetest strawberry so, we have two varieties which were taken from China, the Snow White variety since we have a little seedling medyo okay pa naman ang produksiyon pero medyo mahal lang ang presyo kaysa sa red strawberry, tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang produksiyon, we have selected farmers na galing mula pa sa Japan at sila ang nagpaparami nito our of 320 farmers we have selected farmers to produce this snow-white variety,”
“For this year we will be producing thousands of strawberry cupcake cups, matitikman rin natin ito sa gaganaping Strawberry Lane sa March 4, (Lunes) 9: am sa Municipal Park pagkatapos ng Ecumenical Service sa Municipal Gym,”
Sa March 17, (Sunday) 9: am naman ang kaganapang Strawberry Cake Fest na ipamamahagi nito ang thousands of strawberry cupcakes sa Municipal Gym,”
Sa pagbubukas ng Strawberry Lane sa March 4, ay ating tunghayan at makisaya tikman ang mga produkto na mula sa katas at bunga ng Strawberry kasabay rin nito ating saksihan ang pag-gawa ng Strawberry Vegetable Salad contest na gaganapin sa Kings College of the Philippines, La Trinidad, Benguet. ### Mario Oclaman //FNS
