“Panaglagip” Book Soft Launching and Cultural Night

As part of the cultural program, Joanna Cariño, martial law victim and survivor, introduced their upcoming book entitled “Panaglagip: The North Remembers – Martial Law Stories of Struggle and Survival.” The book is an anthology of stories from Northern Luzon victims and survivors of the Marcos Dictatorship. It is slated to be officially released within the year.

The cultural night is divided into 2 parts: first, a solidarity concert, and second, a major production led by Dap-ayan ti Kultura iti Kordilyera. Various personalities and artists performed in the Solidarity concert namely the Benguet State University Dramatic Arts Club in their own rendition of the “Siak ni Kaigorotan” play, followed by the band Ebkas Waya, artists Karlo Altomonte, Cynthia Abalos, and finally Ivee Bongosia.

The major production entitled “Panaglagip ken Panangituloy” showcased the Cordillera peoples’ valiant resistance during the Marcos years. Starting from the Anti-Chico Dams and Anti-Cellophil Resources Struggle to the ouster of the dictator, the production utilized archival photos, indigenous chants and songs, and contemporary dances to give life to historical experiences.
