NCCA Regional Exchange Unit convenes semestral meeting, sheds light on Mimaropa Gastronomy in celebration of Filipino Food Month
Intramuros, Manila – Considering the cost-cutting measures and energy conservation with the ongoing energy crisis in the country, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Regional Exchange Unit of MIMAROPA gathers members, including the state universities and colleges. The said SUCs are key sources and repositories of cultural research, particularly on areas such as gastronomy.
The NCCA REU requested to provide updates on the initiatives related to gastronomy research, documentation, and promotion within the province and locality. Since April is also concurrent with National Literature month is also designated as Filipino Food Month. The updates include ongoing or completed research projects, documentation of traditional food practices, community engagement activities, publication or related programs that contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of local culinary heritage.
Moreover, the updates will help the Committee identify existing knowledge resources, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and support the development of culture-based initiatives across the Mimaropa region.
By April 21 (Tuesday), instead of an in-person meeting, it was collectively decided to have it online by 9 am onwards. The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) would have an overview of mandates and the free, prior, and informed consent process. Then the gastronomy initiatives of MIMAROPA SUCs, including Occidental Mindoro State College, Palawan State University, Provincial Government of Marinduque, Romblon Provincial Government, along with Palawan, Oriental, and Occidental Mindoro representatives. #
