La Trinidad, Benguet – (July 24, 2023) After DOST-PAGASA issued Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No.14, Mayor Romeo K. Salda immediately called a meeting this morning to activate the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) with the MDRRMC, LTFS SRR Team, ACDV SRR Team, LTMPS SRR Team, LTMJ SSR Team and the Camp Coordination and Evacuation Management Cluster.

The Tropical Depression “Egay” update was issued at 5:00 am, July 24, 2023 (Valid for broadcast until the next advisory to be issued at 5:00 pm today)

Typhoon EGAY undergoes rapid intensification as it moves over the Philippines.

Hazards affecting land areas, heavy rainfall outlook, and the forecast accumulated rainfall on Wednesday 50-100 mm: the rest of Apayao, the rest of Abra, Kalinga, the western portion of Mountain Province, and Benguet.

Forecast rainfall is generally higher in elevated or mountainous areas. Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are highly likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in localities that experienced considerable amounts of rainfall for the past several days.

In a meeting mentioned the precautionary measures that when the tropical cyclone is strong or is intensifying and is moving closer, this signal may be upgraded to the next higher level.

The waves on coastal waters may gradually develop and become bigger and higher.

The people are advised to listen to the latest severe weather bulletin issued by PAGASA every six hours.

In the meantime, business may be carried out as usual except when floods occur.

Disaster preparedness is activated to alert status.

The LGU Actions to get organized: Convened LDRRMC within 24 hours upon receiving a severe weather bulletin, reviewed LDRRM / Contingency Plans and Hazard Risk Maps, engaged LHO and or LESU to ensure the inclusion and implementation of descriptive epidemiology and pattern analyses in the DRRM and contingency plans, estimated number of evacuees, conducted PDRA and prepared appropriate response plan, includes action ensuring compliance of minimum public health standards.

Organized Administrative Logistical Support Team, Search Rescue and Retrieval teams, Security Teams, Medical Teams, Clearing Operations Team, Monitoring and Reporting Team, Activated 24/7 Emergency Operations Center, Activated Incident Command System, conducted an inventory of supplies, equipment and a stockpile of goods, Assessed Evacuation Centers, Placed adequate guide markers at strategic, Informed Punong Barangays of weather advisory, identified danger zones, Advised households to prepare survival kits / secure roof, wall, power lines, issued suspension of classes for appropriate  levels and suspension of work for private and government offices,

In an interview with Mayor Salda, “We have a meeting this morning on the PDRA to identify and prepare whatever the team will when to prepare, we still on signal no. 1 so, we prepare whatever equipment, foods that we have, we expect to raise tropical cyclone wind signals in areas in Benguet so, the teams will standby to receive rescue operations and we are ready to address all concern.

Since, the track is until Friday (July 28,) we will wait for further, updates on the PAGASA situation in case it will stay here until Friday ang binabantayan natin ay ang Little Kibungan at yun Strawberry Farm usually the flood area,”

“The following are the pre-positioned evacuation center ready to accommodate possible evacuees are

Municipal Gymnasium in Municipal Lobby, MDRRMC Evacuation Center (3rd floor) in Lubas Evacuation Center, Alapang Evacuation Center in Puguis Elementary School, but in mostly all the barangays they are counting on the schools within their respective barangay in case of evacuation they can use the schools or in the barangay hall

For food supplies as mentioned by MSWD, we have sufficient food stock to be used in case of calamity.

“To all barangay officials and stakeholders precaution natin itong pagdating ng typhoon “Egay’  alam natin na super typhoon but we do not know the situation yet until we received the tropical cyclone bulletin from PAGASA and the DDRMC will be issuing barangay officials activate the BDRMC and as we wait for the update of the PAGASA you should be seat now your respective area of jurisdiction kung saan yun slide prone at flood-prone area para ma determine natin,”
