Female army is multi-medalist during the 26th Annual WCOPA in USA

SAN MATEO, Isabela– Sgt. Sesy Lou Bucalen-Salazar, a member of the Philippine Army who originally hails from Brgy. Suyang, Kalinga, bagged two silver and one bronze medal during the 26th Annual World Championship of Performing Arts held in Anaheim, California, USA from July 26-August 5, 2023.

Salazar got two silver medals from the songs “One and Only” in the open category and “My Boy Lollipop” in variety, and a bronze medal from “At Last” in Rnb/Soul/Jazz category.

 Sgt. Salazar, who is currently one of the vocalists of the 5ID band of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army in an exclusive interview by Filipino News Sentinel, said she will continue her career in the army and have no plans to pursue full-time in the singing industry.

“Proud ako na Army ako and para po ito sa lahat ng mga Army. Isa lang po ito sa way ko upang maipakita kung gaano po ako ka-proud na member ng Philippine Army”, [“I am proud to be an Army and this is for all the Armies. This is just one of my ways to show how proud I am to be a member of the Philippine Army”], Salazar said.

 To note, Sgt. Salazar was qualified to be a part of WCOPA Philippine Team after competing against the 200 aspirants in an audition held in SM Clark in Nov. 2022.

WCOPA is an official international competition program for performers and entertainers held annually.
