CRUSHED AND DESTROYED

CRUSHED AND DESTROYED

Nearly 200 kilos of confiscated cigarettes since last year (top photo) and 72 kilos of betel nut with tobacco (moma) and 102 units of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), also known in the market as vape, JUUL, e-cigarette are being prepped for Monday’s ceremonial crushing at City Hall ground on January 25, 2021. These heaps of highly addictive, poison-laden, cancer-causing cylinders of death is the result of the dedication of the city’s Smoke Free Task Force (SFTF) in its campaign of realizing a #SmokeFree Baguio.

The estimated value of these confiscations are at P2.3 million. POSD is the main implementary of City Ordinance 34 s. 2017 (Smoke Free Baguio Ordinance) as it is responsible for over 90% of the confiscations in the inventory of the SFTF. The remainder is shared by deputized barangay and civilian enforcers and the PNP.  Photo by:  Mario Oclaman
