Children’s Month ends, winners for talent contests known

Children’s month ended with awards ceremonies, fun activities, cultural and dance presentations and a service caravan attended by City officials including Vice-Mayor Faustino Olowan, Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) personnel headed by Liza Bulayungan, barangay officials, advocates, youth representatives from the barangays, Non-Government (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and some parents, at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center (BCCC), in the morning of Nov. 29.

Vice Mayor Olowan and Councilor Tabanda both lauded those who worked for childrens’ month activities with the theme, “Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children – Children Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Materials (OSAEC-CSAEM) Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”

Councilor Tabanda pointed out the need for collaborative protection from the community, and committed support from the parents and academe in the fight against OSAEC-CSAEM.

This generation is empowered for both the real and digital world, as the importance, challenges, potentials and safe spaces of the internet is explored, the lady councilor said.

A book launching of “Safe Guardians” followed, while the service caravan went on with participants: the Baguio City Public Library (BCPL), Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), Department of Health, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (DOH-BGHMC), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Commission on Human Rights (CHR)/Community Legal Office, Health Services Office (HSO), Regional Alternative Child Care Office (RACCO), Child Labor-Effective Awareness and Response in Cordillera Administrative Region (CLEAR-CAR) Project, Child and Family Services Philippines, Inc. (CFSPI), City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO), Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), among others.

Earlier, a children’s summit was conducted wherein issues concerning children were discussed, and problems and proposed solutions were offered by the youth.

Lectures were also delivered as to cybercrime and remedies to undertake for victims, the numbers to contact are 0908-899-7228 or 0908-818-0211 of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit.

The winners for the talent shows and their respective barangays were also known.

For the hip hop dance contest, the champions were: Axeille Ross Elian of Brookspoint, Alovea Miranah Gail Cacho of Marcoville, Princess Angel Alo of Balsigan, Keith Xyrhen Gundran of Lourdes Proper, Chloe Gabrielle Mortel of Sto. Nino-Slaughter, and Ayeshia Nicole Halog of Salud Mitra.

The following dancers copped the second place; Divine Reign Igharas of Lucnab, TiaraLeigh Bod-oy of San Vicente, Klerhol Cabinto of Pinget, Vianca Cara Erich of Lourdes Extension, Sachiko Zoey Manangan of Cresencia Village, Aljuben Seph Zachary of Kayang Hilltop.

The third place, for the Hip hop dance category, goes to Joanah Glenn Bosala of Holy Ghost Proper, Anica Natividad of Fort Del Pilar, Raven Andrei Beltran of SLU-SVP, Maria Belle Galvez of Upper QM, Jojenn Peirre Dela Cruz of MRR Queen of Peace. For the Cultural Dance, the first place goes to Feberlyn Sermonia of North Sanitary Camp, Exekiel Takingan of Dagsian, Carly Chloe Valiente of Ferdinand, Lorrea Jeanelle Tangeb of Dominican-Mirador, Mark Aldrin Valdez of Padre Zamora, Althea Keith Vicente of Andres Bonifacio.

The second place goes to Desalyn April Jane Flores of East Bayan Park, Jireh Reign Galan of Camp 7, Norville Keith Dinolong of Bakakeng Central, Shekiah Liegh Balaodan of San Luis Village, Marcel Chacwag of Pinsao Pilot, Nhaoiomy Samantah of Campo Filipino.

The third place for the cultural dance category goes to: Denver Estomin of Country Club, Camille Ortega of Greenwater Village, Delfer Buyotan Jr. of Pinget, Emmari Bandao of Asin road, John Troy Morris of Guisad Central and Terene Kaster Cudia of Salud Mitra.

In the line dance competition, the first place goes to Akierha De Vera of Aurora Hill, Caron Nicole Bacungan of Dagsian, Job Waking of Bakakeng Norte/Sur, Glorious Rose Vidal of Middle Rock Quarry, Chloe Laraine Manwiit of Irisan, Aljuben Seph Zachary of Kayang Hilltop.

The second place is copped by Aliera Xyrene Regala of South Sanitary Camp, Alma Naureen Gerardo of Military Cut-off, Aldrin Sam Songaben of East Quirino Hill, Ma. Shane Fernandez of Palma-Urbano, Khiana Marie Bustarde of Padre Burgos and Whinona Cleo Torres of Andres Bonifacio.

Porscha Dyveka Dao-anis of Country Club, Chloe Tayaoan of Greenwater, Jaycee Buton of Victoria Village, Tevens Tyron Odiver of Upper Rock Quarry and Princess Nicole Caballero of Padre Zamora were awarded third place in the line dance competition.

For the solo singing contest, first placers are Ashley Joy Pascua of East Modernsite, Ryleigh Faith Argoza of Camp 7, Reynaldo Robin Pacio of BGH compound, Tanyah Mahrigoh Tamayo of City Camp Central, Khazermane Tamio of Irisan and Yheia Denise Tandoc of Campo Filipino.

Second placers are: Cattleya Anne Bacod of Happy Hallow, Yshan Liam Lobchoy of Loakan Apugan, Venice Kahziel Tayag of Middle Quezon Hill, Lexann Sage Peralta of City Camp Proper, Ysha Trish Ong of Padre Burgos and Leigh Candy Venice Valencia of MRR Queen of Peace.

Third placers are: Zymoneth Farong-ey of Holy Ghost extension, Kayelle Lavigne Galang of DPS compound, Jazel Bangwa of West Quirino Hill, Meriza Pingi of Lower Lourdes, Akilla Tejano of Guisad Surong and Skyler Beronia of Salud Mitra.

For the Poster making contest, first placers are Jian Mikaela Seminiano of Brookside, Natalie Mallare of Cabinet Hill, Rolli Dave Mani of East Quirino Hill, Amer Llegunas of GEFA Lower QM, Xapan James Pasoguen of Guisad Central, Cayenne Alexa Naces of Upper Gen. Luna.

Second placers are Lexie Janell Monces of Aurora Hill, Brandon Elle Chan of San Vicente, Ralph Lauren Garcia of Pinsao Proper, Roel John Halog of Lower Rock Quarry, Lance Ivoe Taborda of Guisad Surong and Chivelyn Vergara of MRR Queen of Peace.
