CDRRMO PLANS AND PROGRAMS PREPARED FOR NEXT YEAR
21 May 2021 – Plans, programs and activities (PPAs) of the City Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) shall be implemented in 2022, as to annual investment plans.
This is the assurance given after a status report by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) legislative monitoring and evaluation committee with confirmation from SP secretary Atty. Brenner Bengwayan.
It may be recalled that council resolution 296, series of 2018 addressed the CDRRMO to include in their regular activities, the conduct of night time emergency safety drills and exercise.
However, this was not implemented, as to the SP legislative status monitoring team, and as noted by Executive assistant to Mayor Benjamin Magalong Engr. Felipe Puzon, Jr. and CDRRMO head Engr. Yolanda Munar. It was found out that target vulnerable sectors such as day time workers, students and government employees are not in their respective offices and schools during the requested time of safety drills and exercise. Night time emergency safety drills and exercise shall not be appreciated, it was known.
It may also be noted that starting February 2020, the local government unit postponed and cancelled all crowd-drawing activities including safety drills, as precautionary measures against the spread of Covid-19.
Engr. Puzon however observed that in the 2019 and 2020 annual accomplishment reports, the CDRRMO conducted 25 and 44 drills, respectively. Other considerations aside from that of offices and schools in the conduct of night drills and exercises shall be observed, and included in the preparation of the 2022 annual investment plans, it was known.
Presently, the CDRRMO has activities for the heightened prevention and response measures against Covid-19. In general, said office functions for disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and rehabilitation and response. –juliegfianza
