BENECO’s lines were not spared by typhoon Enteng and Habagat

Seven out of Benguet’s 13 towns suffered damaged electric poles due to landslides from September 2 to 9.
The town of Atok recorded the most number of damaged poles at three — one pole at KM. 45 in Bonglo, Paoay, Atok, and two at KM. 38 in Topdac, Atok. The latter carried backbone lines that affected a wider area when power was cut.
BENECO linemen replaced busted transformers in Orasan, Tawangan, Kabayan, and Balangabang, Tuel, and Tublay. Other municipalities affected were Bakun, La Trinidad, Sablan, Bokod, Itogon, and Kabayan.
The co-op suffered a total damage of P1.086 million covering eight primary poles (P452,915.16) and six power transformers (P633,439.17). As to location, Benguet had a total damage of P634 203.65 and Baguio, P452,149.69. Baguio though had a lesser number of damage incidents.
Three 3-phase transformers were replaced and cost more than P252,000 at Ferguson, Campo Filipino while the replaced transformer at Springhills, Apugan-Loakan cost P172,674.71. (LSI)
