Baguio and Tuba officials are in interactive engagement as the city gears up to re-activate the city-owned hydropower plants at Asin. Mayor Benjie Magalong discussed the energy potential of re-operated Asin power plants with counterpart community leaders of Tadiangan, Tuba raising hopes of threshing out issues of concern.
In the meeting were Tuba Councilors Roger Kitma, Gary Behid, Rebecca April and Tadiangan-Nangalisan Land Owners Association President Job Culbengan and officers Peter Sito, Olga Dangwa, Atty Richard Stone Pooten and Roger Sinot, and Tadiangan Punong Barangay Zakdy Guelen.
Mayor Magalong initiated the talks to forge mutually serving solutions arising from land-use rentals raised by private landowners. “It is always best to talk with stakeholders on issues that unite, rather than divide, so as to identify beneficial use of a re-opened hydro-electric plant. While Baguio has proprietary rights over these facilities, it stands to reason that power generated be of mutual benefit between neighbours,” Magalong stressed. PHOTO BY Ezer Owindo
