BCPO head bids Baguioites farewell
30 April 2021 – After a little bit more than two years of serving Baguio residents, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) head PCol. Allen Rae Co gets ready for his next assignment.
In his message during last Monday’s city hall flag raising ceremonies, Co expressed gratitude for friendships and bonds, even during the year of Covid-19 lockdowns, quarantine and border control. The changes in the economy and other practices in livelihood, education, including constraints during the Covid-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, even learning experiences which tested community resilience, Co said.
He further expressed appreciation for Baguio residents’ support and adherence to health protocols and discipline which he believes is empowering and develops each other to be better. We heal together, he further said.
For over a year, BCPO with force multipliers went through unprecedented actions to prevent violence, bring about peace and order, while reducing incidents of Covid-19 transmission, Co added.
With plans and programs implemented, Co revealed that pre-pandemic crimes numbering to 616 in Jan. to March of 2020 dropped to 254 during the same period in 2021; less 362 commissions or a decrease of 58.76%. Other crimes committed; murder, homicide, rape, theft and robbery were reduced significantly during the past year. Vehicular traffic incidents also decreased from 375 to only 107, or a 71.6% decrease, he reported.
He proudly presented the haul of medals and certificates awarded to him and the BCPO, during his stint: Medalya ng Kagalingan, 33; Kasanayan, 52; Ugnayang Pangpulisya, 1; Papuri, 90; Paglilingkod, 7; Paglaban sa Magliligalig 7.
There are also certificates of appreciation; recognition, commendation; Authority to wear master rider’s badge; Medalya ng Paglilingkod laban sa Kriminalidad; Tsapa ng natatanging unit, ng Kwalipikasyon, ng pagtulong sa nasalanta, and Mabuting Asal.
The BCPO was awarded as outstanding Community Police Office for Police Community Relations for the year.
PCol. Co was also adjudged a special awardee for Covid-19 Pandemic operation nationwide; Best Sr. Police Commissioned Officer for Operations for the year; Best PCR Sr. Police Commissioned Officer for the Year, and Philippine National Police Academy Gen. Vicente Lim National Awardee.
“We dedicate the awards to you, citizens of Baguio,” he offered.
During Co’s stay, 2159 wanted persons were arrested, from regional, city, provincial, municipal and station levels. At least 250 persons were arrested as to involvement in illegal drugs during 181 operations; with Shabu and Marijuana (Cannabis sativa) worth nearly P9M of street value confiscated.
Persons involved in illegal gambling numbering to 158 were arrested in 33 operations with gambling paraphernalia and P58,894 confiscated; and for illegal logging, 6 operations were conducted with 10 arrested and 1,911 board feet valued at P89,155.00 confiscated.
Loose firearms numbering to 32 were confiscated and 67 surrendered in 90 BCPO operations, with 27 individuals arrested.
Allen Rae Figuracion Co from Manila, is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), finished basic, advance and executive training courses, and completed Masters in Public Management (MPM) at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), and was assigned to different areas including at the Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO-COR), Camp Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
He is married to Luzviminda Villa-Co and blessed with four children.
